The 2012 Women’s World Fastpitch Championship will take place in Whitehorse, Yukon. The city will host teams from 16 different countries July 13 to 22, 2012.
Whitehorse has also hosted a number of major sporting events in the past, including the 2008 ISF Junior Men’s Fast Pitch Championships and the 2007 Canada Winter Games.
The following 16 countries have qualified and attended the 2012 Women’s World Fastpitch Championships in Whitehorse:

Each team consists of around 20 players, 5 coaches and likely half as many parents and supporters. The event will draw roughly 640 visitors to Whitehorse over a 10 day period.
Economically, the event is a major boost for the Yukon economy, pumping in a few million dollars that otherwise would not have been spent.
