Population Graphic
August 23, 2014
The graphic shows the world’s countries in proportion to their populations.
Still this graphic portrayal exaggerates the population size of the north. For the population ‘north of 56’ represents only 1 out of 7300 people on Earth.
- The people ‘north of 56’ represents about .013% of the world’s population.
- China has 1.4 billion people, or about 20% of the human population.
- India now has 1.3 billion people. According to the 2012 revision of World Population Prospects, released by the UN, India’s population will overtake China’s around 2028.
- The area ‘north of 56’ represents about 38% of the land area of North America, but only 2% of the Earth’s land area.
Commentary
It is interesting to see the large populations of Asian countries shown in the graphic.
